(Side note: I am moving in a couple of days, so this will be my last post until I have settled in at my new place. It will probably be a two-week hiatus, or something like that.)
Here’s a great experimental album that I’ve had the pleasure of discovering. It features clarinetist David Rothenberg playing on soundscapes of electronics and samples of bird songs by Bernhard Wöstheinrich. Sounds strange? Maybe, but it’s a wonderful album!
The soundscapes produced by Wöstheinrich’s sampler, synthesizer and sequencers are beautiful and out-of-this-world. Rothenberg’s clarinet playing is wonderful, and the way his clarinet and Wöstheinrich’s sounds interact is amazing. Of course, one can’t forget Markus Reuter who mixes the album so perfectly well.
Overall, a great album. I will definitely give this repeated listening and also explore more music by these great musicians.
